She fell down Immediately I hit the bottle on her head, I became scared despite my ruggedness...
Mum and dad entered immediately, they were shocked to see her lying on the ground too...
"Who's she?" Mum asked...
"She must be a thief, I found her inside Romeo's wardrobe" I answered...
"What of Romeo?" Dad asked...
"He's sleeping downstairs" I answered...
"But he should have heard your yelling" mum said..
"I...I..I actually gave him sleeping pills" I said...
"What!!!, Sleeping pills?"!!!" They both shouted...
"It's not a big deal, we were playing truth or dare" I said...
"Oh my Jes, I'm going crazy because of you, you know we came back from Scotland because of your naughtiness, here you are now, causing another trouble" dad said...
"Let's just take this thief to the hospital, then we know the next line of action" mum said as we jointly carried the girl to the car, she was taken to the hospital...the phone in her bag was used to call one of her contacts, Tonia by name...

I started fidgeting as I got the call..
Hope Romeo's parents will not lock her up cos I heard they're very influential people..
And we're supposed to be in New York with Cross by now
I called Emma and we both went to the hospital together cos I don't want to disturb aunty Lizzy..

I woke up to find myself in an hospital bed...
I sat up and saw two people I suspected to be Romeo's parents, the girl that hit a bottle on my head, Tonia and Emma....with two police men, my heart skipped a beat..
"Where's Romeo?" I asked myself...
"Now, tell me what you're doing in my house" the man said...
"I'm..... Wendy, Romeo's girlfriend, he's the one who put me in the wardrobe" I stammered..
The woman laughed sarcastically...
"My son's girlfriend?, Are you sick?, My son has a girlfriend already" she said and my heart almost jumped out of my mouth...
"He's honestly Romeo's girlfriend" Tonia said...
"Will you shut up!!!" The woman said...
"My brother won't have anything to do with a commoner" the girl said...
"That's right Cici" the woman said...
"Well, in case you dunno, I'm Mr Brook and here's my wife and our daughter, we're suing you for barging into our house without our consent, arrest her officers" Mr Brook said...
"Sir, I'm not a thief, I'm really not a thief" I pleaded and the man slapped me...
"Don't talk again, else..." He threatened...
"Don't take my sister away please" Emma begged but they won't listen...
I was made to climb the police van and I was driven to the police station...
Hot tears welled up my face as I was thrown into the remand...
"So Cross has a girlfriend, that explains why he didn't show up and why he didn't tell his parents about me, look where I am now" I thought, crying badly....

"What are we gonna do?" Emma asked after they've taken Wendy away...
"I'll just call dad" I said and dialled dad's number...
He picked at the first ring..

I was suddenly released though I dunno why, I just pray they don't change their mind and as for Romeo, I pray we never meet again..
I walked out of the station and met Tonia, Bennett and Emma outside...
I hugged them..
"How did it happen?" I asked...
"I called my dad" Tonia answered...
"Sis, how come they found you inside the wardrobe?" Emma asked...
"Romeo locked me there when his parents entered the house" I answered...
"Oh, that explains why he never showed up, he even has a girlfriend like his mum has said, Romeo Brook, you're so dead if you come near Wendy again" Tonia threatened, throwing fists in the air and squinting.....
"You're back to the turbo mode again" I said jokingly...
"Wardrobe lady" Bennett said, eying me mockingly...
"I'll kill you if you call me that" I said...
"we missed Cross's dad burial, but we can still go to console him, I've talked to my dad, he'll give us enough money, we'll stay in a suite in New York after giving cross our condolences" Tonia said...
"So we're going tomorrow, and we're returning after a week" I said...
"Sure, to resume" she answered as we hopped into the car and she drove us home...

I woke up and found mum dad and Cici surrounding me...
"What says the time?" I asked...
"7pm" mum answered and I faced Cici...
"How dare you give me sleeping pills" I said in anger...
"How did you know?" She asked... surprised
"I'm not a dummy like you, of course I wouldn't have slept for good six hours if I've not been drugged, it must have been the water" I said...., Stumping my foot on the ground..
"Who's Wendy?" Dad asked and I suddenly jerked up, remembering Wendy is still in the wardrobe...
I wanted to run upstairs to check, not minding their reactions when mum talked...
"So it's true, she's your girlfriend, when we're planning for you to date Claire" dad said... And I stood frozen in my tracks
"Well, we showed her hell cos I smashed a bottle of wine on her ~head, we took her to the hospital, she woke up and we told her you have a girlfriend already before sending her to the station, if not for the family doctor tha~ t called to say she's his cousin, she would still be in the station right now" Cici said, giggling...
"No, mum, you've ruined me, Cici, what have you done?, dad...."
I ran upstairs to cry my eyes out....

The next day, I and Tonia took off to New York...
We got there at about 2pm and we lodged into our already booked hotel and suites...
We rested a bit before going to Cross house...
We got there around 3pm and met him sleeping...
"Girls" he said, waking up when he heard our conversation
"Cross, we're sorry we missed your dad's burial yesterday" I said...
"Me too" Tonia said...
"Apologies accepted, it's really a sad day for me as daddy's heart has to be removed before burying him, his heart is what I'll use tommorow" he said....
"So your transplant is tomorrow?" We both asked simultaneously...
"Yes, I pray it goes well" he said...
"Sure it will, be optimistic" I said...
Tonia's phone ringed and after picking the call....
"It's an old school friend, you remember Francis, right?" She asked...
"Oh, your idol those days, you worship the ground he walks on" I said...
"You badass, I'm going to meet him, he ~told me he's also here in new York so I have to go meet him, wendy, I'll see you~ at the hotel, Cross, I'll come to your surgery tomorrow, be strong" she said as she rushed out...
"Crazy girl" I said as she went out...
"So can you please share me the story of why you didn't come to my dad's burial yesterday?" He asked, his look was intent...
I decided to tell him the story..
"Maybe it's just a misunderstanding" he said after listening to the story...
"Hell no, I saw everything myself, he's a cheat" I said, trying to fight back my tears...
"Lemme make you something to eat, omelette?" I asked..
"That's ok" he answered and I entered the kitchen to cook...
The clouds are becoming dark already, I think it's going to rain soon, it's as if the heavens heard my thoughts cos it started raining almost immediately...
"It might just stop before 7" I thought as tears started falling from my eyes as I remembered yesterday's occurrence again...
I suddenly felt hands wrapped around my shoulders from behind.... it's Cross...
"Wendy Please just let me stay like this for five minutes" he pleaded with shaky voice, I think he's crying...
I let him stay since we both need consolation...
"I'm sorry for all the pains I've caused you, I'm sorry for not being a good person back then, I'm really sorry, I know I've lost the chance to date you but.....
He stopped halfway and I felt, cold liquid fall on my shoulders, he's really crying like me..
I faced him and wiped his tears with the tip of my hands, he's taller than me so I have to stand on my toes...
The rain is still pouring outside, as I'm wiping the tears, I kept staring at his lips...as if in a dilemma, I took his lips in mine and...... kissed him, he responded, as we kissed, I seem to be forgetting all my sorrows....
